Ombreine es el tercer álbum de Wazzara. Esta banda de Moongaze/Post Metal originaria de Suiza nos ofrece un álbum de corta duración en la que fusionan el doom, black y folk metal para crea una propuesta sonora interesante y ecléctica. La banda tuvo la oportunidad de presentar Ombreine ante su público en una presentación que tuvo lugar a principios de mes. Guggisberglied es una canción que mantiene la atención del oyente desde sus primeras notas en la que fusionan los sonidos ambientales con el doom metal creando una atmósfera densa y oscura. Barbara Brawand pareciera ser esta esta luz que va brotando poco a poco gracias a su voz melódica sin restarle protagonismo a la instrumentación, sino que se complementa con ella otorgándole un aire folk y que cierra de forma espectacular interpretando unos growls que aumentan la intensidad dando esta ligera impresión de escuchar black metal.
El sonido de las guitarras nos introduce a Visiûne en la que podemos apreciar como su vocalista emplea tonalidades más agudas retomando un poco el estilo musical de bandas como The Gathering. Me agrada cómo se va desenvolviendo la canción a lo largo de los casi siete minutos de duración en la que se distinguen varias transiciones musicales utilizando elementos como las voces guturales y líricas que le añaden mayor profundidad a la canción.
What Lies Beneath retoma esta fusión entre el doom y el black metal al que se añaden algunos elementos folks en la que Barbara Brawand da cátedra de su versatilidad vocal. Las voces guturales que entona pueden llegar a ser realmente desgarradoras pasando por tonalidades más suaves y líricas como es el caso del coro. Es quizás la canción más emocional del álbum y la que representa en esencial la propuesta musical del quinteto suizo.
Ombreine es un álbum que merece ser escuchado una y otra vez para identificar las distintas capas musicales que contiene. Me agradan las transiciones entre el doom y black metal que van desde lo más sutil hasta lo más extremo en la envuelven al oyente dentro de atmósferas musicales profundas, densas y hasta emocionales. Barbara Brawand tiene bastante claro el rumbo hacia dónde quiere ir con wazzara en la que nos muestra que la música puede ir más allá del género en la que se explora por completo la parte creativa de la banda. Estoy interesada por conocer lo que quinteto suizo puede ofrecernos en un futuro.

REVIEW: OMBREINE (WAZZARA)
Ombreine is Wazzara's third album. This Moongaze/Post Metal band from Switzerland offers us a short album in which they fuse doom, black and folk metal to create an interesting and eclectic sound proposal. The band had the opportunity to introduce Ombreine to their audience at a performance earlier in the month. Guggisberglied is a song that keeps the listener's attention from its first notes in which ambient sounds merge with doom metal, creating a dense and dark atmosphere. Barbara Brawand seems to be this light that is emerging little by little thanks to her melodic voice without detracting from the instrumentation, but is complemented by it, giving it a folky air and which closes spectacularly by interpreting some growls that increase the intensity giving this slight impression of listening to black metal.
The sound of the guitars introduces us to Visiûne in which we can appreciate how her vocalist uses more acute tones, taking up a bit of the musical style of bands like The Gathering. I like how the song develops throughout the almost seven minutes in which various musical transitions are distinguished using elements such as guttural and lyrical voices that add greater depth to the song.
What Lies Beneath takes up this fusion between doom and black metal to which are added some folk elements in which Barbara Brawand gives a lecture on her vocal versatility. The guttural voices that she sings can become truly heartrending, passing through softer and more lyrical tones, such as the chorus. It is perhaps the most emotional song on the album and the one that essentially represents the musical proposal of the Swiss quintet.
Ombreine is an album that deserves to be listened to over and over again to identify the different musical layers it contains. I like the transitions between doom and black metal that go from the most subtle to the most extreme, enveloping the listener in deep, dense and even emotional musical atmospheres. Barbara Brawand is quite clear about where she wants to go with wazzara in which she shows us that music can go beyond the genre in which the creative part of the band is fully explored. I am interested in knowing what the Swiss quintet can offer us in the future.
