Infected Minds es una banda de rock progresivo originaria de Grecia. Fue a principios del año pasado cuando la banda publicó su álbum debut “Reanimated”, casi una década después de su formación mismo que fue grabado y producido durante la pandemia. La banda integrada por Katerina Kehagia (voz), Victor Mastela (guitarra), Nikos Vlachogiannis (batería) y Angel Pearl (bajo) se han mantenido activos en la escena realizando pequeñas presentaciones y dando vida constantemente a ideas para nuevas canciones o versiones de canciones existentes de otros artistas con a intención de grabar un álbum de larga duración de forma independiente. Towards the Truth tiene esta esencia del rock atmosférico que abraza al oyente a través de la instrumentación. El sonido de la banda se torna más pesado al llegar a coro en donde su vocalista Katerina Kehagia descarga toda su fuerza que se refuerza con el sonido de la guitarra eléctrica. Me agrada la inclusión de elementos característicos de la cultura griega.
On The Edge of Life destaca por las notas del bajo en su inicio y que desemboca en un sonido pesado guiado por la guitarra eléctrica y en el que la voz femenina se añade generando un sonido más rítmico y que se mantiene a lo largo de la canción. Las notas progresivas aparecen como una forma de transitar por los distintos paisajes sonoros que ofrece la canción.
Induce Pain es una balada que cuenta con algunos elementos progresivos que se fusionan con el rock atmosférico. La ejecución de la guitarra por parte de Victor Mastela es maravillosa. La canción finaliza con las notas del piano que le aportan mayor dramatismo y profundidad.
Foreign Passenger es quizás la canción más pesada que ofrece la banda en su álbum debut invitando al oyente al headbanging a medida que avanza la melodia. Esta banda se caracteriza por sus canciones de larga duración, sin embargo, no se percibe el paso del tiempo por su dinamismo. A comparación de las canciones anteriores, en esta podemos percibir a una Katerina Kehagia que juega con diferentes matices vocales.
Xenomorph es una canción que rescata la esencia del rock progresivo de la vieja escuela. Se destaca la técnica y virtuosismo de la guitarra eléctrica quien figura como protagonista junto a su vocalista. Es una canción que transcurre de forma lenta y que aumenta su sonido por uno más pesado casi al término de esta. Un tema que en definitiva será del agrado para aquellos fanáticos del progresivo en su máxima expresión.
Technically I am Dead comienza con el rasgueo de la guitarra y las notas del piano. La canción adquiere mayor ritmicidad gracias a intervención vocal de Katerina Kehagia y nuevamente trae este estilo de rock progresivo que la banda ha presentado a lo largo de este álbum debut. Finaliza con un sonido más ambiental que se fusiona con otros estilos musicales.
Es interesante la propuesta musical que presenta Infected Minds en este álbum debut. Me agrada la forma en como envuelve al oyente a través de la música y la fusión entre el rock ambiental y progresivo misma que surge de forma natural y sin ningún tipo de pretensión. Para quienes inician en el género, quizás este álbum sea un referente para introducirse.

Infected Minds is a progressive rock band from Greece. It was early last year when the band released their debut album "Reanimated", almost a decade after their formation, which was recorded and produced during the pandemic. The band made up of Katerina Kehagia (vocals), Victor Mastela (guitar), Nikos Vlachogiannis (drums) and Angel Pearl (bass) have been active on the scene, performing small shows and constantly bringing ideas for new songs or cover songs to life. of other artists with the intention of recording a full-length album independently. Towards the Truth has this essence of atmospheric rock that embraces the listener through the instrumentation. The band's sound becomes heavier when it reaches the chorus where its vocalist Katerina Kehagia unloads all her strength, which is reinforced with the sound of the electric guitar. I like the inclusion of characteristic elements of Greek culture.
On The Edge of Life stands out for the bass notes at the beginning and that leads to a heavy sound guided by the electric guitar and in which the female voice is added, generating a more rhythmic sound that is maintained throughout the song. The progressive notes appear as a way of moving through the different soundscapes that the song offers.
Induce Pain is a ballad that has some progressive elements that merge with atmospheric rock. Victor Mastela's guitar playing is wonderful. The song ends with the piano notes that give it greater drama and depth.
Foreign Passenger is perhaps the heaviest song the band offers on their debut album inviting the listener to headbange as the melody progresses. This band is characterized by its long-lasting songs; however, the passage of time is not perceived due to its dynamism. Compared to the previous songs, in this one we can perceive a Katerina Kehagia who plays with different vocal nuances.
Xenomorph is a song that rescues the essence of old school progressive rock. The technique and virtuosity of the electric guitar stands out, who appears as the protagonist together with his vocalist. It is a song that passes slowly and that increases its sound by a heavier one almost at the end of it. A theme that will be liked by those fans of progressive at its best.
Technically I am Dead begins with strumming guitar and piano notes. The song acquires greater rhythmicity thanks to the vocal intervention of Katerina Kehagia and again brings this style of progressive rock that the band has presented throughout this debut album. It ends with a more ambient sound that blends with other musical styles.
The musical proposal that Infected Minds presents in this debut album is interesting. I like the way it envelops the listener through the music and the fusion between ambient and progressive rock that comes naturally and without any kind of pretense. For those who start in the genre, perhaps this album is a reference to introduce themselves.
